THE SHORT ANSWER
Nobody outside Travelers can say how long your particular claim will take. What California law sets, for Travelers as for every insurer: the first temporary disability payment is due within 14 days after knowledge of the injury and disability, unless liability is denied first. If liability is not rejected within 90 days after you file the claim form, the injury is presumed compensable.

We do not know, and we do not guess about any company’s practices. What we can tell you is which deadlines the law sets for every California workers’ comp insurer, Travelers included. Below: those clocks, who Travelers is, how to reach your claim professional, its California networks, and what to do when a clock runs out.
The clocks that bind Travelers
| CLOCK | WHAT THE LAW SAYS |
|---|---|
| First temporary disability payment | Not later than 14 days after knowledge of the injury and disability, unless liability for the injury is denied earlier |
| Every payment after the first | Every two weeks, on the day designated with the first payment |
| A late payment | Increased 10%, paid without application, with narrow exceptions |
| Treatment while the claim is decided | Authorized within one working day after the claim form is filed and continued until liability is accepted or rejected; limited to $10,000 until then |
| Accept or reject | If liability is not rejected within 90 days after the claim form is filed, the injury is presumed compensable. The presumption can be rebutted only by evidence discovered after the 90 days |
| Public safety presumptions | 75 days instead of 90, for injuries |
Count from your own dates. The 90 days run from the date the claim form was filed, which is the day your employer received it. Write that date down. The DWC 1 and the date that counts

Who Travelers is
A licensed workers’ comp insurer. The California Department of Insurance’s company profile lists The Travelers Indemnity Company with a license status of “Unlimited-Normal,” and workers’ compensation among its lines of business.
It is your employer’s insurer. The law lets an employer secure workers’ compensation by being insured by an insurer “duly authorized to write compensation insurance in this state.” Travelers’ own page for injured employees says your employer is responsible for reporting the incident to Travelers.
Reaching your claim professional
Start with the claim number. It is on Travelers’ letters to you. Travelers calls the person handling your claim your Claim professional.
Travelers’ claim-status number. Its contact page lists (800) 238-6225 to check the status of a business insurance claim, and says its Claim professionals are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
Online. The contact page describes MyTravelers for injured employees, for a workers’ compensation claim: sign up for electronic payments, message your claim team, and view payments.
Then put it in writing. A dated email or letter, saying what you need and by when, is the record every remedy for delay depends on. My adjuster won’t call me back
Which doctors: Travelers’ California networks
DWCDWC Division of Workers’ Compensation, part of the Department of Industrial Relations. Administers the system. Information Services Center: 1-800-736-7401.’s list of active MPNs, current as of July 8, 2026, shows networks filed by Travelers companies, including the TravNet MPNMPN Medical Provider Network. Your employer’s list of physicians. After the first visit you may switch within it without permission. and the Travelers Preferred SM MPN, both filed by The Travelers Indemnity Company. Travelers’ California MPN page links an employee MPN notification and a search for network providers.
Your MPN notice says which network applies. When an injury is reported, the employer or its insurer must give you a complete written MPN employee notification, with the MPN’s identification number, a toll-free Medical Access Assistant number, and the web address of its roster of treating physicians.
After the first visit you may switch to any other doctor in the network. How the MPN works
When a clock runs out
Day 14 with no check, and no denial. The payment is late, and the law adds 10% without your asking. Unreasonable delay can add up to 25% or up to $10,000, whichever is less brought within two years of the date the payment was due. The 10% the law adds to a late check
Day 90 with no rejection. The injury is presumed compensable. Say so, in writing, citing § 5402(b). My claim is delayed
Nobody calls back. Stop calling and write. My adjuster won’t call me back
