The short answer

This is attorney advertising, nothing on it is legal advice, and reading it or writing to us does not make this firm your lawyer. That happens when a conflict check clears and both sides sign something.

Effective August 23, 2026.

This is attorney advertising

This website is a communication about legal services from the Law Offices of Solov & Teitell, APC, and it is subject to the California Rules of Professional Conduct and to Business and Professions Code §§ 6157–6159.2.

The firm is located at 1625 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 802, Los Angeles, CA 90015, and the attorney responsible for this site's content is Jamey Teitell, State Bar #183718.

Using this site does not make us your lawyers

No attorney-client relationship is created by:

  • reading anything on this site,
  • submitting the contact form,
  • sending us an email, or
  • leaving us a voicemail.

It is created when — and only when — this firm has run a conflict check and both you and the firm have signed a written fee agreement. Until that happens, we are not your lawyers and we are not acting on your behalf. Nothing here should be relied on as though we were.

Do not send confidential information yet

Anything you send before we have a signed agreement may not be confidential, and in some circumstances sending case details to a firm that turns out to represent an adverse party can create a conflict that stops that firm from helping you.

Send enough to be contacted. Keep the rest for the conversation. This is standard, it protects you more than it protects us, and most sites bury it.

Everything on this site is general information about California workers' compensation and personal injury law. It is written carefully, it is cited to statute and case law, and it is reviewed — and it is still not advice about your case.

Your case turns on facts this site does not know: your date of injury, your earnings, your medical evidence, your work restrictions, what your employer's carrier has already done, and what the applicable law was on the day you were hurt. The law also changes, and a page that was right when it was written can be wrong later. Each page carries a last-reviewed date so you can see how current it is.

If a deadline might be running, do not rely on a website. Call someone.

Prior results

Past results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any other case.

The result portrayed in this advertisement was dependent on the facts of that case, and the results will differ if based on different facts. (Business and Professions Code § 6158.3.)

Fees

No fee unless we recover. You are not responsible for costs we advance if there is no recovery. In California workers' compensation, the fee is set by a workers' compensation judge, not by the firm — see what a lawyer costs for how that actually works.

What this site covers, and what it does not

This site describes California law. It does not describe the law of any other state, and it does not cover federal systems — the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, FECA, or the Jones Act — except where a page says so explicitly.

Do not use these pages for a claim outside California.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to read, print, and share these pages. What you may not do is use this site to break the law, transmit anything malicious, impersonate anyone, attempt to gain access to systems you are not entitled to, or run automated collection against it at a rate that goes beyond ordinary human use.

Content and ownership

The content of this site is the firm's, and it is protected by copyright. Statutes, regulations, and court opinions quoted here are not — they are public, and quoting them accurately is the whole point.

You may quote from these pages with attribution. If you want to republish something in full, ask.

This site links out constantly — to the Labor Code, to Title 8, to the DWC and DIR, to court opinions, and to secondary sources. We link to sources so you can check us.

We do not control any of those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.

No warranty, and the limit of our liability

This site is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate — there is a corrections page logging what we have got wrong and when — but we do not warrant that every page is complete, current, or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the firm is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of this site. Nothing in this paragraph limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing in it affects the duties this firm owes to its actual clients — those come from the Rules of Professional Conduct and are not waivable by a website.

Governing law

These terms are governed by California law, and any dispute about this website belongs in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date above tells you when they last changed, and material changes are logged on the corrections page.
