THE SHORT ANSWER

If you live in Temecula, your workers’ compensation case will generally be heard at the Riverside district office of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, 3737 Main Street. The DWC’s ZIP code list sends all five Temecula ZIP codes there. If you were hurt at work in San Diego County, that county is allowed too. Our office is in Los Angeles, and we have no office in Temecula.

On this page

The City of Temecula describes itself as lying in southwestern Riverside County, about 55 miles northeast of San Diego and about 80 miles southeast of Los Angeles. For a work injury claim, that location raises three questions: which court hears a Temecula case, what changes if you were hurt across the county line, and how you get to the court in Riverside on the days you have to be there in person.

Our office is in Los Angeles

Our office is at 1625 W. Olympic Blvd, Suite 802, Los Angeles. We do not have an office in Temecula.

What that means for you:

  • The consultation is a phone call, free, in English, Spanish or Korean.
  • The case is handled by phone, mail and e-filing. You do not need to come to Los Angeles, and your hearings are not here.
  • Your hearings are at the Riverside district office. Most conferences are held by video, with the link on your hearing notice. Trials, expedited hearings and walk-throughs are in person at 3737 Main Street, and we appear there for our clients.
  • If you cannot come to us, we come to you. We make home and hospital visits across the four counties we serve, Riverside County included. Say so when you call.

Where a Temecula case is heard

Every Temecula ZIP code is on the DWCDWC Division of Workers’ Compensation, part of the Department of Industrial Relations. Administers the system. Information Services Center: 1-800-736-7401.’s list for the Riverside district office. The Division of Workers’ Compensation publishes a list showing which office serves each ZIP code. Check your ZIP code if your Temecula address says Fallbrook. The Census Bureau’s 2020 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, which approximate ZIP code areas, put a small part of the city, about 2% of its land, inside the area for 92028. That area lies mostly in San Diego County, and the DWC’s list sends 92028 to San Diego. The statute speaks in counties; the list shows which office serves each ZIP code. A home inside Temecula is in Riverside County, whose only district office is Riverside. If your address carries 92028, the list and the county line point to different offices, so raise it before anything is filed.

If you live in Temecula and were hurt at work in San Diego County, both counties are allowed. Riverside County is where you live; San Diego County is where it happened. San Diego’s district office is at 7575 Metropolitan Drive, Suite 202, (619) 767-2083. More than one Temecula worker in four, 27.4%, works outside Riverside County, so the county where you were hurt is often not the county where you live. Which county is better depends on where you, your doctors and your witnesses are, and on the drive on the days that are in person. Write down the address where you were hurt, with its city and county.

Our county, Los Angeles, is also permitted, but the employer has 30 days to object, and a timely objection sends the case to where you live or where you were hurt. For someone in Temecula, about 80 miles from Los Angeles by the City’s own description, it would also add a long drive on the in-person days. After filing, venue changes only on a petition showing good cause. Where your case is heard, office by office.
