Rating String Decoder

Every rated California workers’ compensation case produces a string like 15.03.01.00 – 8 – [1.4]11 – 340G – 13 – 15. It determines your money. Almost nobody explains how to read it. Paste yours.

Before you rely on any of this

  1. This decodes a rating. It does not produce one. Only a physician determines whole person impairment; only the Disability Evaluation Unit or a judge issues a rating.
  2. Impairment is not disability. Your WPI is not your PD percentage, and the gap between them is most of what this tool exists to explain.
  3. Apportionment can change everything. Labor Code §§ 4663 and 4664 — and after City of Jackson and Lindh, even an asymptomatic pre-existing or genetic condition can support it.
  4. Your date of injury controls which law applies. Before 2005, 2005–2012, and 2013 onward are three different systems.
  5. Multiple body parts do not simply add. The Combined Values Chart applies unless you meet the Vigil standard.
  6. The rating may be rebuttableAlmaraz/Guzman, Ogilvie/Dahl, and Kite/Vigil can move it in either direction.
  7. Using this tool does not create an attorney–client relationship.
